Can you Help with ECHO Advertising?

ECHO needs a volunteer to assist in managing our advertisers list. No specific skills are needed – just the willingness to spend a little time each month answering and sending emails, checking with advertisers on their requirements for repeat or new adverts, following up interest from potential new advertisers, and passing on requests to the ECHO team members who create the artwork for the small number of advertisers who don’t provide their own.

Improvements to Coventry Rail Station

The first phase of work on improvements to Coventry railway station – a new footbridge and improvements to the existing platform canopies – has begun. A second station building with shops, new multi-storey car park and a ticket office, as well as a bus interchange on the Central Six side, will follow soon.

Piling works are currently taking place on Warwick Road. The piling forms part of the foundations for the new station building and will allow the opening of the access tunnel under Warwick Road, connecting the new building to the bus interchange.

As part of the work, it will be necessary to close the steps on Warwick Road and the walkway from the station to the car park at Central Six. The closure will take place from Monday 5 August and pedestrians will need to walk down Warwick Road, past Eaton House – the tower block – and access the station past the new Council building.

From 5 August, 12 disabled car parking spaces will also be relocated from the station forecourt to the existing multi storey car park no.1, which can be accessed via Station Square.

Finally, the cycle shelter closest to the platform in the short stay car park area will be moved to a temporary location in front of the station while the work is carried out. There is also an undercover cycle hub located near to the British Transport Police.

Bus Route Changes in Pipeline

National Express Coventry are conducting a consultation on possible bus route changes to be implemented in September. This would be the first major revision of services for 7 years. Routes affected, serving Earlsdon, Chapelfields, Spon End and Hearsall Common could include the numbers 5, 10, 11, 18, 19 and 23. However some of these changes may only affect parts of these routes around the city centre and where the route continues beyond the city centre. For more details, and to have your say before the plans are finalised in mid-July, go to the website:

New Volunteers Needed for ECHO

We are constantly looking for more volunteers to contribute to ECHO.

We particularly need someone to help with our coverage of planning issues. This might suit someone who has working experience in planning, property or construction but the main requirements are an eye for detail, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in the area.

Equally anyone who can take on some of the general workload would be a welcome addition to the team.

A City of Culture Volunteer Opportunity

Community Evaluator:

Prior to launching our full volunteer programme, we are looking for four enthusiastic Community Evaluators to play an important role in evaluating the impact of cultural activity in local communities, across the city.
You will be working within communities undertaking surveys, conducting face-to-face interviews, collecting other data, and developing your own evaluation methods to assess the impact of the work being undertaken. Full training will be provided at the start of the programme and you will be mentored throughout the process by the wider evaluation team at the Coventry City of Culture Trust.
