Green Space Consultation

The Council is seeking your views about parks, play areas and green spaces in Coventry. Your views will help them to better understand the quality and accessibility of green space across the borough to inform the development of a new Green Space Strategy and wider planning policy. The Strategy will help the Council to follow government guidance on planning for green spaces and will look at whether the current level of parks and green space is sufficient to meet the needs of local residents now and in the future.

The Council wants to ensure that green spaces achieve their full potential to contribute to the local environment and quality of life. Therefore this is an opportunity for you to let them know how satisfied you are with Coventry’s parks and green spaces and what improvements you would like to see to your local green space.

Even if you do not use green spaces they are still keen to hear your views about the contribution green spaces make to your local quality of life and also about why you do not use green spaces.

Coventry United VP Club Launched

With Coventry United F.C. now established at the Butts Park Arena, the directors of the football club have announced the formation of a Vice Presidents Club. Long-term supporter Keith Green (photographed) has been the first to sign up.

Joining costs £1,000 a year and this gives you:
– Appearance in the Vice President roll-of-honour on the Clubs new website
– Advertisements in the match day programme and members newsletters where applicable
– Regular acknowledgement tweets
– Corporate hospitality for two guests once per season with stadium tour
– Two season tickets for both men’s and women’s senior sides and the annual presentation night
– A choice of Vice Presidents man-of-the match (combined with other VP votes)

Keith Green says : ‘I have been a fan of Coventry United since the team was formed in 2013, and have only missed a very few games both home and away. Boon for Criterion

Boon Dog Theatre, en route to the Edinburgh Fringe, will be putting on a production at the Criterion Theatre on 28 and 29 July.

’Goody’ is an exploration of world of performing apes and the humans who live with them. Set in America in 1934, it deals with the relationship between one man and his performing chimpanzee in a travelling circus.

Whoberley Avenue Access Restrictions

Road resurfacing in Whoberley Avenue will take place over approximately 7 days from Monday 17th July.

The road will be fully closed between 7.30am and 5pm, during which time access will be permitted for residents, business, emergency vehicles and refuse collection but not for private motorists.

Vehicles left parked on the road during the work may legally be removed and will also incur a £70 penalty charge.

Number 10 bus diverted

Whoberley Avenue will be closed from Monday 17 July for up to seven days, while repairs are carried out.

During the closure, bus service 10 will be unable to use the stops on either Whoberley Avenue or Maudslay Road and so passengers are asked to use the stops on Lyndale Road or the service 23 stops on Allesley Old Road.

Tonight at the Nursery

Tonight’s free music at the Nursery Tavern features sets from Trailer Trash, Red Smile and Amit Dattani.

 

As usual, this monthly The Tin at the Nursery event starts at 8.45pm, with doors opening fifteen minutes earlier.
