Warwickshire County Council has made a Temporary Traffic Order closing A429 Coventry Road, Kenilworth from 3 Crackley Crescent to 13 Crackley Cottages, a distance of approximately 250 metres, to vehicular traffic. The closure is required to facilitate the construction of a new sewer. The work is now scheduled to commence 20 July 2015 with anticipation of completion by 21 September 2015. This means that those wishing to travel to Kenilworth should turn left at the new Gibbet Hill roundabout into Stoneleigh Road and then right at the next island into Dalehouse Lane.
National Express West Midlands’ bus service 11 and Stagecoach buses X16, X17 and U17 will be re-routed during the closure. For full details, see:
From North Earlsdon Neighbourhood Association:
Thanks to Councillor Taylor who has been able to obtain more detail about the planned bridge closure –
“I have made some enquiries and can confirm that the Council’s Structures team are resurfacing the section of bridge maintained by CCC over 2-3 consecutive night time closures later this month. The TTRO, published last week, states that the order is valid for 6 months but does not actually give the duration or start date (still to be confirmed). I think people may be confusing the validity of the order with the duration of the works. Please see attached.
Once our structures team has a confirmed date for the works, advance information signs will be erected either end of the bridge at least 7 days in advance, the diversion route will be signed via Warwick Road.
Kind regards
Rhian

Coventry Telegraph is holding a poll about future funding for the Godiva Festival. Some might find the results so far a little surprising…
With the council having to make deep cuts, we might have to fork out a little something to keep the city’s best weekend going
A date has been set for the public meeting that is mentioned in ECHO’s July cover story. Love Earlsdon reports:
The future of Earlsdon Library: South Earlsdon Neighbours Association SENA & North Earlsdon Neighbourhood Association (NENA) have organised a public meeting to discuss how the ‘community’ will run the library and other local amenities should the council pull the plug on them in the near future due to funding cuts imposed on it by the Conservative government at Westminster.
Both associations work closely with the council on various issues so this is an ideal chance to let them know what you think and find out more about any plans they may have to ensure the library remains open.
The meeting takes place at Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind, 33 Earlsdon Avenue South, CV5 6TH on Monday 6 July at 7.30pm.
If you can’t make the meeting but would like to make your views known please e-mail them to Mike the SENA Chair.
