Coventry Lord Mayor’s British Military Fitness Fundraising Challenge

Coventry’s Lord Mayor is hoping to boost his chosen charities by linking up with an outdoor fitness programme based on military training with the aim to get Coventry active.

British Military Fitness is the leading outdoor fitness company teaching fitness classes at over 140 parks across the UK to all members of the public and all fitness levels

British Military Fitness Coventry is running fitness sessions at the Coventry War Memorial Park meeting at the Park and ride car park and the Lord Mayor is asking people to take the opportunity to take part, get fit and raise money for his charity appeal by getting sponsored to attend as many sessions as they wish.

Throughout the week beginning Monday 26 September people taking part in British Military Fitness can simply turn up at the park and join in as many sessions as they wish for free. Sessions run on the following days and times:
Monday: 6.30pm, Tuesday 6pm & 7.15pm, Wednesday: 6.30pm, Thursday: 7pm, and Saturday 9am.

British Military Fitness run 3 main fitness ability groups to suit individual’s fitness levels and at Coventry we have recently started an additional low impact ability group. The Low impact group training is aimed at those who struggle with high impact activity or who want to start a more gentle exercise programme, incorporating gentle exercises with walking in-between. These sessions are also great for people who struggle with mobility or are recovering from injury. Participants when they arrive at the park will be advised by the British military fitness instructors on the most suitable fitness group to take part in to suit their needs based on their current fitness level. Please feel free to contact Coventry park manager Matt Turnell if you have any queries by email to: Just turn up and join in!

The Lord Mayor of Coventry, Cllr Lindsley Harvard, said that he is going to give it a try and is hoping that participants can also help raise sponsorship for his charities. He said: “We’re really hoping people come along, have some fun, do some exercise and raise money for charity while they’re doing it. It would be fantastic if people were able to donate whatever they can towards the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal. I will be attending the session on 28 September and hope to see you there.”
