‘Alice’ opens at the Criterion Theatre on Saturday 10 December

The psychedelic set is painted, the dressing rooms are full of weird and wonderful costumes, and the cast of 21 actors are giving their all… it must nearly be showtime!

Get your tickets now for Alice by Laura Wade, a modern adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic, which opens in a week’s time, running from Saturday 10 to Saturday 17 December.

Don’t miss this fabulous production. Your favourite Wonderland characters are there but with an exciting contemporary twist. It has been so wonderful to be working with two teams of young actors from our drama classes, for most of whom this has been their first opportunity ever to be on stage due to the pandemic. The production also has original music and songs. It’s all great fun and perfect family watching.

Let’s get the festive season off to a good start with sell out performances every night! Tickets available from the theatre’s website.

BUS SERVICE UPDATE

Following posts earlier in the week, outbound bus services to Earlsdon and Spon End have been restored, except in respect of Croft Road.
The full announcement from NX is as follows:
“To allow for air pollution work to be carried out, Butts Road will be closed to traffic from Croft Road.
While the road is closed the following diversions will be in force.
Services 1 2, 6, 6A, 14, 14A, 18, 18A towards Earlsdon and Spon End, will operate to Queen Victoria Road, then via Greyfriars Road, Warwick Road, and Ringway Queens to Butts Road.
They will not serve Croft Road.
All of these services will stop at Queen Victoria Road (Stand VR2).
Services towards the City Centre are not affected by this closure.”
See https://nxbus.co.uk/coventry/service-updates/ for any further announcements.

BUTTS ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE

After it rapidly became clear that the closure of Butts Road outbound from the Ring Road junction 7 with effect from Monday 14 November was unworkable, Coventry City Council has instructed the contractors to re-open the road and devise an alternative plan to complete the planned works.

However only the left most lane is open, meaning that all traffic, turning left into Albany Road or heading straight on to Spon End, is confined to that lane.

As yet the re-routing of buses 1, 2, 6/6A and 18/18A has not been reversed.

Please see: https://nxbus.co.uk/coventry/service-updates for further updates.

Lengthy Road Closure and Buses Rerouted

With effect from today, Monday 14th November, it will not be possible to access Butts Road from the Ring Road junction 7. This restriction will apply for around 12 weeks while the remodelling of the junction is completed. The diversion will take drivers from junction 8 via Holyhead Road and Four Pounds Avenue. However access onto the Ring Road will be maintained, and the temporarily closed on/off slip roads will be reopened on the north side of the junction.

Bus route changes during this period are as follows:

No 1 and no 2 towards Coundon and Tile Hill South will be diverted via Warwick Road and Earlsdon Avenue South. Croft Road and Albany Road will not be served.

Nos 6/6A, 18/18A to Tanyard Farm and Tile Hill South will be diverted via Upper Well Street, Holyhead Road, Four Pounds Avenue and Queensland Avenue. Corporation Street (beyond Upper Well Street), Croft Road, The Butts, Spon End and Hearsall Lane will not be served.

The work to fill in the junction 7 subway will be completed overnight on 15th/16th November (9pm-6am).

The plan for the new layout of junction 7 is shown below.
