Last night’s fire at the disused Pails Bakery, Craven Street, came shortly after it was sold at auction but before the sale had been completed. Cllr Bally Singh, Lead West Midlands Fire Authority member, said “It’s such a shame to hear of fire at the historic Pails bakery on Craven Street, and I hope the original baking oven inside has survived. I would also like to thank the fire crews who responded to the incident, for their great work putting the fire under control.”

Ten-week closure of A429 Coventry Road, Kenilworth
Warwickshire County Council has made a Temporary Traffic Order closing A429 Coventry Road, Kenilworth from 3 Crackley Crescent to 13 Crackley Cottages, a distance of approximately 250 metres, to vehicular traffic. The closure is required to facilitate the construction of a new sewer. The work is now scheduled to commence 20 July 2015 with anticipation of completion by 21 September 2015. This means that those wishing to travel to Kenilworth should turn left at the new Gibbet Hill roundabout into Stoneleigh Road and then right at the next island into Dalehouse Lane.
National Express West Midlands’ bus service 11 and Stagecoach buses X16, X17 and U17 will be re-routed during the closure. For full details, see:
Anarchy Bridge Closure Update
From North Earlsdon Neighbourhood Association:
Thanks to Councillor Taylor who has been able to obtain more detail about the planned bridge closure –
“I have made some enquiries and can confirm that the Council’s Structures team are resurfacing the section of bridge maintained by CCC over 2-3 consecutive night time closures later this month. The TTRO, published last week, states that the order is valid for 6 months but does not actually give the duration or start date (still to be confirmed). I think people may be confusing the validity of the order with the duration of the works. Please see attached.
Once our structures team has a confirmed date for the works, advance information signs will be erected either end of the bridge at least 7 days in advance, the diversion route will be signed via Warwick Road.
Kind regards
Rhian
